Our High School Chapters

Operation of our program is based on high school chapters.  We currently have Athletes For Kids chapters at five high schools in the greater Eastside.  These are: Skyline and Eastlake High Schools in Sammamish, WA; Issaquah High School in Issaquah, WA; Liberty High School in Renton, WA; and Eastside Catholic High School in Bellevue, WA.  We have nearly 100 athlete-mentors system-wide, who are students at one of these five high schools.

Each year, from November 1 through December 15, we have a recruitment period for athletes who want to become mentors in Athletes For Kids.  These applicants are screened and interviewed. Once selections are made, these athletes must take part in a training session before they are eligible to be matched in a mentoring relationship with a younger child.

Since we are community-based, the children we mentor usually reside within the attendance area of one of our high school chapters.  Exceptions to this can be made depending upon the availability of mentors, the needs of the child, and the proximity of the child’s residence to one of our high school chapters.

If you are interested in becoming a mentor and are currently attending one of these high schools, please complete the new mentor application.
